Easy Denim Shorts

Summer is still in full swing and that means shorts season is also still in full swing. That being said, I recently went through my closet and decided to get rid of the clothes I don’t wear anymore, including several worn out pairs of jeans! I decided to breathe new life into my old jeans by making them into shorts.

  • A pair of old jeans (note: don’t try to make them out of jeggings it doesn’t turn out well at all!)
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine and other necessary sewing items
  • Procedure:
    1. Start by turning the jeans inside out. Notice the giant hole in the knee of these pants!
  • 2. Put them on inside out and use a sewing pen or pencil to mark on one leg where you want to cut the shorts. I put three marks because I included Sean allowance.
  • 3. Take them off and cut the lowest line.
  • 4. Fold them in half as smoothly as possible and carefully cut the other leg!
  • 5. Put the shorts on inside again, this time roll the bottoms up two times and pin them, making sure the legs of both shorts are as even as possible.
  • 6. Sew at the top of the two folds first. Go all the way around and then back stitch a little to secure the hem.
  • 7. Then for added aesthetic value see around the lower end of the double fold.
  • Tada! You are finished with your very own pair of shorts. I love updating my wardrobe with simple sewing tricks, it’s also great because I haven’t had to buy a pair of shorts in years. Please give this post a thumbs up if you liked it. Don’t forget to share this with your denim-loving friends and subscribe so that you never miss a post. Last but not least, glamour shorts… I mean glamour shots!
